How do I mass-produce products in PrestaShop?

With PrestaShop's native backoffice, this isn't possible without installing a mass creation module.

Merlin Backoffice on the other hand is very rich, there are lots of different methods for mass creating products and the beginner won't necessarily know where to start.
The aim of this article is to demystify the subject, as you'll see it's actually very simple with the right tools.

How to mass-create a large number of PrestaShop products, step-by-step with the Merlin module

  1. Select the category OR categories in which to create products.
  2. Click on "New".
  3. Fill in the desired values/parameters common to all these products: generic names, stocks, suppliers, brands, various properties such as tax group, visibility... this is where you save time.
  4. Indicate the number of products to be created in each category.
  5. Click on create.

Merlin is also a mass modification module

Once the products have been created en masse, they are all almost identical and need to be customized.

Either one by one, for example the long description or summary is often written product by product in the "Product sheet" tab (N°6 in the above capture), or translations in the "Translation" tab.

Or by batch, by selecting or filtering all products that can be modified at the same time and using one of the many mass management tools:
